Rick Panicucci joined WuXi AppTec in February 2015 as the Vice President of Pharmaceutical Development Services. In this capacity, Rick provides scientific leadership for 160 scientists in Developability, Formulation Development, and GMP Manufacturing and is responsible for the execution of all Parenteral and Oral dosage form programs. He also maintains key client relationships and assesses new technologies through partnering or internal M&A capacity building. In addition to his position at WuXi, Rick currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy. Prior to WuXi, Rick was the Global Head of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Profiling (CPP) at Novartis from 2004 to 2015. His responsibilities included analytics, solid state chemistry and formulation development of all small molecule therapeutics in early development. He also helped develop novel drug delivery technologies for small molecules and large molecules including siRNA. Rick has also led groups in Formulation and Research and Development at Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Symbollon Pharmaceuticals, Biogen, and Bausch & Lomb.

Rick received his Ph.D. in Physical Organic Chemistry from the University of Toronto and had two post-doctoral fellowships at University of California at Santa Barbara and the Ontario Cancer Institute. Rick has written 33 publications on Formulations, Drug Delivery, and Drug Discovery.

Kang Dong Yoon, MD. is a Medical Epidemiologist, Clinical Fellow of Drug Safety Monitoring Center, Seoul National University Hospital, Seoul, Korea.

He is expert in Pharmacoepidemiology; analyze the safety of drugs with various designs and statistical methods Standardization of Pharmacovigilance terminology. He Participated in Analysis system of adverse drug reaction by common data model, Building National Pharmacovigilance Network in Korea, Establish Pharmacovigilance model by linking electronic medical records.

Peng Li In 1950 graduated from Shanghai first Medical College (Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University), Worked in Department Physiology from 1955-1999. Chair of this Department for 10 years. 1983-84 went to University of Birmingham, UK to learn electrophysiology & have studied over 55 years about electro acupuncture (EA) effect on cardiovascular diseases. Now he worked in the School of Medicine at UC Irvine & has examined the underlying mechanisms of EA with several animal models. Licensed to perform acupuncture in California, investigate the effects of EA in hypertensive patients. He have published over 153 articles and organized five international symposiums.

The use of acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine to alleviate symptoms of disease, effect and mechanism of acupuncture and moxibustion and like to study TCM scientifically.

Weiguo Dai is currently a Scientific Director and Janssen Fellow in Drug Product Development at Pharmaceutical Development and Manufacturing Science (PDMS), Johnson and Johnson. He is the recipient of Johnson and Johnson 2011 Philip B. Hofmann Research Scientist Award and the Elected Fellow of American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS). Weiguo has authored 50 peer-reviewed journal articles. Weiguo Dai earned his PhD degree from The Johns Hopkins University in 1996, and has over 20 years of industrial work experience in biotech/pharmaceutical companies, including Amgen, and Johnson and Johnson.

His research and innovation have focused on improving drug product performances through design and development of novel formulations, delivery technologies and manufacturing processes.

Dr. Adams received his PhD from UC San Francisco in 1981 in Pharmacology and Toxicology. His postdoctoral experience was at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas and the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. He served as a research assistant professor at Washington State University before coming to USC School of Pharmacy in 1987.

I am interested in California medicinal plants and learned for 14 years from a Chumash Healer how to use these plants. Having recently discovered new pharmacologically interesting compounds in three different California plants, I am now in the process of further characterizing these compounds. Future work will involve testing these compounds and plant medicines in animal models and clinical trials to find out if they have important medicinal properties. I am interested in pain control, stroke therapy and eczema therapy with California medicinal plants.

The research of the Borris groups involves a) Validation of traditional medical practices, b) Discovery of novel biologically active natural products, c) Natural products used as dietary supplements, d) Phytochemical systematics, e) Application of NMR spectrometry to the structure determination of natural products, and f) Applications of high performance centrifugal partition chromatography to the isolation of biologically active natural products and other organic compounds.

He joined the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) as an executive director and he pressed successfully for the creation of the infrastructure for clinical trial in the kingdom. He contributed to SFDA all his skill and expertise and initiated many educational awareness programs for the community development. He chairs many scientific and research committees. He has to his credit two books and several research papers in various highly indexed journals.

He is an international speaker and his area of interest is Nanomedicine, Pharmacogenetics Biotechnology and Stem cell techniques.

Peter Maienfisch studied chemistry at the ETH in Zürich, Switzerland, where he received his PhD in 1983. After a post-doctoral stay at Caltech (Pasadena, CA, USA) Peter joined Animal Health Research of Ciba-Geigy in Basel in 1984 and became group leader in Insecticide Research in 1988. Following the creation of Novartis in 1996, he was appointed Head of Chemistry 2 in Crop Protection Research and with the creation of Syngenta in 2000 he became Group Leader Insecticide Chemistry, Analytics & Automation.

Since 2011 he leads the Insecticides & Seedcare Research Portfolio teams, responsible for research strategies and projects. His track record of innovation and successful introduction of new technologies includes authorship of more than 150 scientific papers and patents. Furthermore he is the inventor of thiamethoxam (Actara®, Cruiser®), and a co-organizer of many international congresses, including IUPAC Crop Protection congresses and the International Symposium on Fluorine in the Life Sciences on Bürgenstock. He is a member of the Swiss & American Chemical Societies and the CHIMIA Editorial Board.

Anand has over 14 years of research experience in the pharmaceutical industry including generics and New Chemical Entities (NCE) development, scale up, technology transfer, registration, where he was involved in the overall end to end project management. He is currently working as a Director and Head of Formulation Development at BioDuro and supporting Yangtze River Pharmaceutical Group for formulation related technologies. Prior to joining BioDuro Anand worked over 7 years as a Director of Pharmaceutical Development Services at WuXi AppTec, Shanghai. In this role he was involved in building the formulation development team and infrastructure to support various dosage form development and pilot scale manufacturing. He also worked with over 35 global clients and over 120 projects to support various stages of clinical development. He was involved as a key SME for successful MPA (EU), US-FDA and C-FDA site inspections for GMP. He was also involved in successfully implementing several key technology platforms including microdoser, hot melt extrusion (HME), bilayer tableting, spray drying etc. He has received “Best team management” award in the year 2013. He is a recipient of several prestigious awards.
